Stable News--September 10, 2011

This week was a light one as Indiana Downs did not race on Labor Day and the Indiana Sire Stakes finals and consolations will be held tonight.

Horses Trained by Charlie Stewart

Hoosier King--HK won last night's $20,000-$25,000 claiming handicap over a track rated good, but in reality it wasn't any better than sloppy at some locations.  Jason Dillander picked up the catch drive as scheduled driver Tyler Smith was not available.  He has had an unbelievable year--10 wins overall, nine with the stable.  He has only missed the board once all year and in only 16 stable starts is now second in all time stable earnings.

Don't Lose Her--Charlie and I agreed that it is time to give DLH a break, so she is now turned out.

El Puncho--EP raced well again last Saturday night winning the $12,500-$15,000 claiming handicap.  He had this week off and will return to the track on Monday in the $12,500-$15,000 claimer.  We increased EP's claiming tag to $15,000, so he and driver Peter Wrenn will start from post eight.

Mr Prince--Prince also had this week off and will also return to the track on Monday in the $8,000 claimer.  He drew the three hole and Ricky Macomber, Jr. will be in the sulky.

Horses Trained by Tim McKinnon

Lil Bit Of Luck--The newest stable member had absolutely no racing luck in his stable debut on Wednesday at Flamboro Downs.  He had to go wide from post six in the first turn as two horses to his inside went off stride.  Later in the mile he was forced first up and he tired down the stretch to a fifth place finish.  Driver Paul Mackenzie has suggested a few equipment changes and hopefully these changes and a better trip will equal a better result.
